Reminder from SC Department of Consumer Affairs to Password Protect Your Smartphone

For many, smartphones have become an extension of themselves. Virtually anything can be done with them, including social networking, shopping, paying bills, or accessing your bank. It is just as important to secure your smartphone as it is any other computer you would use for these purposes – and your smartphone is an easier target for thieves and easier to lose.

So what’s the best advice for keeping your smartphone safe?

1.) Enable strong, creative passwords and don’t share them with anyone.

2.) Be cautious in public Wi-Fi hotspots – avoid logging into personal accounts, especially financial accounts.

3.) Securely dispose of your personal information before trading in your phone for that hot, new upgrade!
