SCDCA Gears Up for National Consumer Protection Week
Columbia, SC… The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) is celebrating National Consumer Protection Week,March 3 – March 7, 2014. FREE shredding and several presentations are among the events slated to encourage consumer awareness:
PRESENTATIONS on IDENTITY THEFT and SCAMS
Consumers who are concerned about the threat of identity theft are encouraged to attend these presentations. Learn about preventing identity theft, security freezes and fraud alerts and the latest scams. Consumers can also take advantage of the opportunity to speak with members of SCDCA’s new Identity Theft Unit.
Monday, March 3rd When: 11:30am-1:00pm
Where: Fort Jackson Main Post Chapel Activity Room
RSVP: To register, consumers should at call 751-5256.
Consumers who would like to attend should bring a picture ID, proof of insurance and registration to gain access to Fort Jackson, as vehicles entering Fort Jackson may be subject to random inspection.
Tuesday, March 4th When: 12:00pm-12:30pm & 12:45pm-1:15pm (two separate presentation times)
Where: Charleston Area Convention Center, 5001 Coliseum Dr., North Charleston, SC
Wednesday, March 5th When: 12:00pm-1:00pm
Where: Bar Conference Center Auditorium, 1501 Park St., Columbia, SC (consumers should feel free to bring their lunch).

SCDCA is partnering with Shred360 to offer two, FREE shred days. We ask that consumers limit their materials to FIVE boxes or less. It is also important to be patient, as these events are very popular:
